Patanjali's Yoga Sutras begins with the line: Atha yoga anushasanam. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali is an ancient text of 196 sutras (short aphoristic statements) which is dated around 400b.c. and gives the practices of the philosophical system of yoga. If you translate the line, it means....

The joyful embrace of a life lived in reality is the path of yoga, and it is here now.

Yoga also translates to yoke or union. When you're looking it life - everything is moving towards union and balance. If Yoga is the basis or the fundamental turth of life, everything is urging us to move towards an expression of consciousness. Though parts of the whole may appear to be different, even in conflict, it all springs forth from Oneness. All that is left for us to do is align with that. This alignment is the 'anushusanam' of Patanjali's opening sutra:

Atha yoga anushasanam. Now, the teachings of yoga. —Yoga Sutra 1.1

Atha. We cannot defer the happening of union to the future. Yoga is here now.
Yoga is union. It cannot be achieved through any transaction, and certainly not violence to ourself. It is the very practice of unity.
Anushasanam. A life in yoga is a life in celebration; a path willingly embraced.

Atha Yoga Anushasanam. Looking forward to sharing this journey with you ✨
